1. Why are we called the Ferzli's?
There where six brothers
originally from the town of Firzol and that’s how they got the name,
just like other families in Lebanon such as the Ghaziri's (from
Ghaziri), e.t.c.
2. How many original Firzli's are there?
Historically
there are the 6 brothers. The info about whether they had sisters or
not, is not clear. Pls see the family tree I posted. There is strong
evidence to suggest that these 6 where the only ones designated as
“Firzli's” due to the family being predominantly from around Karoun -
Zahle - Jib Janeen and 95% from the Christian Greek Orthodox faith.
3. What does Firzol mean?
The Phoenician word for Iron is Ferzl. I guess that
evolved to Feric (Fe on the periodic table) as Phoenician is consider
the route of many Western languages inc. the English alphabet. So the
town was probably a smithing town (not confirmed).
4. Is it true that a book is written about our family? Where can I get it from?
Well the autobiography of Bashara K. Forzly was published in August 2, 1958 in Massachusetts.
